CREATE AN EASY CHRISTMAS GNOME T-SHIRT & BE THE ENVY OF YOUR FRIENDS

Have you wanted to show up to a Christmas Party and have everyone ask where you got your adorable t-shirt? Well, I’m going to show you how to create an easy Christmas Gnome t-shirt & be the envy of your friends!

Gnomes are just the cutest! They just seem to put a smile on your face immediately! Who agrees with me? They are so small, pudgy, jolly, and stinkin’ adorable

So to celebrate all things “gnomey”, lets start on our shirt.

Supplies Needed for this project:

You can cut out the SVG file for this t-shirt with any electronic cutter, but for the purposes of this tutorial we are going to use the Silhouette Cameo.

Step 1: Open Design

Now lets start by opening the SVG file. To open the SVG you will need Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher. If you don’t have Designer Edition or higher, you can use the .png, or the .dxf file.

Step 2: Mirror Design

Before you need to mirror the design so it cuts out the correct way on your htv. So right-click on the design and select Flip Horizontally. It’s now mirrored.

Step 3: Cutting

Now you are ready to cut! Yes, SVGs make it so easy to cut different layers. No messing with the file beforehand. Click on Send. Then click on the Line tab, because we’re going to cut by Line Color.

Now click on the first “black” layer, set the Material to “Vinyl, Matte”, and make sure the Action is set to “Cut”, and I’m using the Ratchet Blade. Now you can Send To Silhouette.

Once you have cut the “black” layer, move on to the “red” layer. Use the same settings as the black layer. After the “red” layer is cut, move on to the “white” layer using the same settings. Then finally, cut the “blue” layer.

Step 4: Weeding

When all layers are cut…it’s time to start weeding! My favorite part! You get to see the layers of the design actually come to life while you’re weeding! It gets me so excited!

Step 5: Layer Your Design

After you have all the layers weeded, then place each layer back on your cutting mat just to get them put together and ready to place on your t-shirt. Place the Black one down first (with the glossy side down), then place the Blue, then the Red, and lastly the White.

You will now see your entire design as it will look on your t-shirt.

Now take all the layers off the cutting mat leaving them stuck to one another, and place beside your t-shirt.

Step 6: Press

I used a heat press here, but it can be done with an iron, just press longer. I set my press to 320 degrees. Before starting to press the layers on, give the shirt a press for about 10 seconds so you press out any wrinkles, and get it ready for your design.

First you are going to press on the black layer. So just peel off the other three layers (together as one), and put them aside. I used a linen cloth on top of the layer before I put the press on the shirt for 15 seconds. Now peel off the clear carrier sheet.

Next, place the three layers (that are together) onto the black layer on your t-shirt. Peel off two layers (the red and the white) and put them aside. Place the linen cloth (or craft/teflon sheet) over your black and blue layers. Press for 15 seconds. Peel off the clear carrier sheet.

Now, place the two layers (that are together) onto the black & blue layers on your t-shirt. Peel off the last white layer and put aside. Place the linen cloth (or craft/teflon sheet) over your black, blue & red layers. Press for 15 seconds. Peel off the clear carrier sheet.

Lastly, line up the white layer onto the black, blue, & red layers on your t-shirt. Place the linen cloth (or craft/teflon sheet) over your black, blue, red & white layers. Press for 15 seconds. Peel off the clear carrier sheet.

Now your layers are all done! Just needs one more thing…

Turn your shirt over and press the back of the shirt to make sure all your layers are well-adhered.

Now put on your Easy Christmas Gnome T-Shirt & be the envy of all your friends!
