My Take on the Challenge!
Well, I finally completed my take on Virginia’s January challenge. I used Graphic 45‘s “A Ladies’ Diary” for making my box. I just love “A Ladies’ Diary”! Such beautiful papers. I love vintage ladies, and I love pink! What could be better! I used a plain mache box from Michaels. What do you think?
I really do love how it turned out! What an interesting technique using the spackling and Mod Podge! It did take a while to dry, though. I first decided on an image that I was going to use on the lid. I was going to cover the rest of the box in paper, but after I started putting the paste on the lid, I decided to use the paste all over! I stuck some large white pearly beads into the paste on the corners of the lid. Then I found a necklace with loose small pearls. I took the necklace apart and stuck the pearls along the lid.
I stuck the image on with Mod Podge. I then found an old broach in my stash that just looked awesome when I placed it on the box. I found some pretty grey small roses, and some white flowers that just make this lid pop!
Voila! Isn’t this just gorgeous! I wasn’t sure about this paste stuff at first, but I really love how it turned out!
You can see the texture in this photo. If you look at the bottom of this picture you can see one of the beads I stuck in the paste on the bottom to give the box some legs. Those bottom beads were a bright orange until I covered them in white paint. Amazing what a little paint (and spackling) can do! I sprayed it with some Glimmer Mists, and added some Maya Road rosette ribbon.
