What I’ve Been Up To…

I’ve been quite busy lately! My layout was finally published in the Fall 2011 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine (page 70).

I’m so excited! That now pushes me to be more creative and try to find some more time to create new layouts or projects. Hopefully I can get published again!

I also attended the Calgary Scrapbook Carnival that was put on by Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine back on September 23rd and 24th. It was fantastic!
Once we arrived in Calgary and settled in at the hotel, we got our shopping on by browsing (and buying) in the Scrap Yard, and Scrapbookers Paradise. We weren’t too impressed with the Scrap Yard. The prices were quite high, and they didn’t really have a whole lot in their store. But Scrapbookers Paradise…WOW! You could spend all day in there! I bought several items there. And their prices were very reasonable. Then we attempted to go for supper at the Olde Spaghetti Factory. What a mistake that was. After I parked the car and paid for a parking stub we were then told that they were closing for the night. 9 O’clock Thursday night and they are closed? So we ended up eating at the hotel at Ric’s Grill. Pretty good food, but really pricey!
We took some awesome classes at the Scrapbook Carnival! We learned a lot of new techniques, too! I’d like to give thanks to the great teachers we had (Allison Orthner, Christy Riopel, Cathie Allan, Connie Nichol, Susan Weckesser – all very talented ladies)! I took a photography class from Allison Orthner. It was very interesting and helpful.

Here’s a few shots I took after learning some tips from Allison:

We also shopped a lot! A lot of great booths like Savvy n Sassy, Scrapbooking Fanatics, Local King Rubber Stamps, Scrapshotz, Hummingbird Lane, Magenta, etc. were there selling their wares! It was scrapbooking heaven!

I won a line of Susiebee papers, and a box cutter! Oooooooo, a box cutter…better look out, I’ve got a box cutter! LOL!

I didn’t get in the magazine this time with my Angry Birds Explosion Box, but that’s okay. At least now I can share this project with everyone! Please check it out and let me know what you think of it. Here’s a link to my video of it:

And here are a few close-up pictures of it:

I also put up a couple of videos showing what I picked up at a couple of garage sales. One sale was right at the Scrapbooking Retreat. So tempting. I had no will power. When you get such awesome deals, you just can’t pass them up! Check the videos out here:

Well, it’s Thanksgiving (just about)! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Enjoy the long weekend with your family! I know I sure will. Then next weekend…another Scrapbooking Retreat! Can’t wait! What projects will I work on this time? Hmmmmmm…I think I may finish up some projects like my Travel Mini, Halloween Mini, and Tim Holtz Mini. I better finish up my classroom projects from the Carnival, too.
